We welcome you to attend our Sunday School! It has been a prayerful journey as we build back better since COVID. Classes are held each Sunday, September 7, 2025 - May 24, 2026, for children ages 3 - 18. Prayerfully, we will add back a class for adults.

Whatcoat United Methodist Church in Dover, Delaware, is a Bible believing, Bible teaching congregation. Our Sunday School curriculum is scripture-based with lessons from both the Old and New testaments. We use instructional materials that follow the same theme for all classes, written in age-appropriate language. In each class, we encourage students to express their Christian faith and views through engagement in thoughtful discussion and activities. Teachers also infuse life lessons into each class session to help students make contemporary connections and sound decisions as members of the greater society.

At Whatcoat, we take the safety of our students very seriously. Our Safe Sanctuary policy requires that we check backgrounds of volunteers and have two adults present in each classroom on Sundays and during Sunday School related activities. Adult members of our congregation are faithful adherents to this policy; they can be relied upon to support educators and students.

Sunday School will resume September 7, 2025, 8:45 am.

 

Classes are available for students ages 3* through adult in the WUMC Dover education wing.

Attendance

Sunday School students are expected and welcomed each Sunday. For participation in extracurricular activities, at least 75% attendance is required.

Offering is collected each Sunday in class. Funds collected are reserved for Sunday School materials and activities.

Safe Sanctuaryä is a program designed to ensure that our students and staff can worship, study and fellowship in a safe environment.

 

Rules

NO CELL PHONE POLICY

Cell phone usage is not permitted while Sunday School is in session. 

 

BEHAVIOR

While present in Sunday School and on church grounds, students and staff are expected to demonstrate behavior that shows reverence to God and respect for others and self.

 

DRESS CODE

Students are expected to wear attire that fits properly (no sagging clothing), and that is respectful of God’s house and of self.

 

TRANSPORTATION

Please communicate transportation needs to Christian Education staff. Like our Sunday School

teaching, security and catering staff, our van drivers are volunteers. Please respect them, their

time and the WUMC Dover vehicle. Parents/caregivers are expected to have students ready at

times designated and to be available when children are returned home after service.
